If the washing machine fills it is not frozen. We are hopefully moving to a house where the washing machine is currently in the kitchen. Pay attention to winter weather forecasts and take precautions to protect the washing machine when frigid temperatures are expected. There could be something stuck in the pump. When the temperature falls below freezing i try to remember to leave this radiator close to the washing machine on frost protection setting. I suppose i could place a heater in the garage with a thermostat set to just above freezing to help prevent freezing inside but that still leaves the supply pipe vulerable. Most home improvement stores including home depot and lowes sell insulation designed specifically for water pipes.

One thing which worries me though is low tempretures i belive washing machines can be damaged if exposed to freezing tempretures even if not operating.
