I followed the advice from many on the net and serviced the lid lock switch.
I finally found the wiring diagram inside the front panel and was able to determine the switch would not cause the symptoms i had.
Be sure lid lock and lid striker are clean as lint or detergent buildup can block the switch and cause the flashing light.
Look for the lid lock switch on the underside of the top panel and where it fits into the appliance.
Place a magnet between the two so there is a magnetic connection between the lid lock and the solenoid inside the washer.
My 36 month old maytag washer mvwc300vw1 had a sensing light and a blinking lid lock light.

Placing a separate magnet there will create a stable electromagnetic connection with the solenoid and trick the machine into thinking that the lid is closed when it s really open.
